Peter Cook built and led the Food, Drink & Agriculture team within Opportunity North East (ONE) until 2025 and continues to work with ONE on its agriculture and seafood projects. Peter previously ran his own rural consultancy working with businesses and government bodies on areas including business development, economic appraisal, policy analysis, knowledge transfer project management and delivery. He started his career as an economist with the Scottish Agricultural College and became Head of the Rural Business Unit, operating throughout the UK, Eastern and Central Europe. He has been a special adviser to House of Commons Committees and Scottish Government enquiries. Peter has farmed in Aberdeenshire throughout his career.
