Jim has a lifetime’s experience in business development, supporting individuals and rural enterprises in realising their full potential. He is a recognized expert in farm co-operation, supply chain collaboration, strategic development, and effective governance. 

He is currently engaged in a variety of projects including: decarbonising Scottish malting barley; promoting the benefits of innovative agri-tech; making better use of data to improve decision making; irrigation management for a changing climate; an EU project focusing on the benefits of intercropping; amongst others.  

Before joining SAOS, Jim held several key positions at SAC/SRUC, including Agricultural Adviser, College Farms Manager, Senior Lecturer, and Senior Business Consultant. His extensive experience and strategic insight continue to drive meaningful progress in agricultural co-operation and sustainability.
